Shireinu - the Jewish Community Chorale of Greater Kansas City

Shireinu at a gig
Shireinu at a gig in 2005.  Our second director, Elana Goldberg, is at left, and our accompanist, Sabin Levi, is at right.

Back in 2000, Larry Poisner called me and asked if I would join a Jewish community choir if it existed.  I said... probably.  Well, I did it and have been in it since the inception.  I was on the board for four years, and I don't miss being on it now.  It's fun.

Early Shireinu
Very early Shireinu.  As you see, I'm the only original member still left.  I'm seated next to our original director, Marie Lerner-Sexton.

During the past three years, I've been having a lot of fun, as well as learning a whole bunch, in arranging pieces for Shireinu.  There is not a whole lot of Jewish choral music readily available without networking and knowing the people who write it, so a lot of what I've done is to simply fill a need.
