"hazzan" or "chazzan": A cantor. Only a cantor who has been
"invested" - similar to ordination - may call himself a chazzan.
The modern hazzan's job includes leading services, chanting from the
Torah, Haftarah, and the megillot, or scrolls (Esther, Ruth,
Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs, and Lamentations), and teaching.
